Established in 2006, Go Compare is one of the UK's largest price comparison sites with national coverage across online, TV and radio.

The company provides comparison details for financial products including vehicle insurance, home and pet insurance and breakdown cover.

The company however was struggling to engage with millennials across social media platforms and Go Compare were missing out on high value life-time customers.

The Brief

In 2016, Coup were asked to address this issue, and help  raise awareness of Gocompare.com across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Our experience in youth marketing and financial services meant we were well placed to help.

What We Did

The first step was to listen to (and analyse) the market place, the competition, and the target demographic in order to understand the conversations taking place, and decide how best to 'own' those conversations.

Social listening and data analysis taught us that much of the online conversations between 18-30 years olds centred around the ‘firsts’ being encountered by this age group e.g. first car, first home, first pet, engagement, marriage, kids…

All of these events were happening throughout the transition period from teenager to thirty something.

We built our social strategy around our findings, and developed ‘The GoCo Guide to life’.

Over an eight month period, we developed a number of fun, informative guides, videos, infographics, social posts, campaigns, apps, competitions and promotions.

BuzzFeed style quizzes like ‘How good a housemate would you be?’ and Instagram competitors like ‘Freaky Fridges’ saw us really engage with that elusive, younger, online audience.

We grew the main social channels by thousands of new users each month and the client was really happy with the overall campaign we ran for them.

“This was exactly what we’re after… emotional connections on topical events.

"Good interaction and comments too. Really nice work.”
