Whether it was those huge Facebook servers churning through the changes one by one and leaving gaps in the updates or whether there were genuine bugs in the system, we encountered - along with many other people - some very strange stuff on Facebook last week after upgrading many of our client accounts to the new Facebook Pages layout.
For a social media agency, not being able to interact with our client's fans, post images or links to our client's pages, and not being able to switch quickly between client pages (a feature we wanted to welcome with open arms) was proving nothing short of a disaster. Clients were asking when their sweepstakes were going live, why hadn't we replied to xxx comment, and why were images missing from our posts. The worst thing was...we had no idea why. We had suspicions but nothing concrete. It wasn't a great week.
Thankfully normal service has been resumed and we have to say we really like the new Facebook Pages. We are working faster, more intuitively, and while we still get caught hovering around the now sidelined tabs every now and then, the whole upgrade gets a big thumbs up from everyone in the studio.
For those who need reminding of what's changed, and what it means for you, here's a great article from ever trusty Mashable to recap...
